About

About Jennifer Lucas Brown, Psychotherapist, MA. LPC. CST

I graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with an M.A. in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Couple and Family Therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in non-profit management and provided psycho-educational services to adolescents and adults on a wide range of issues including leadership, body image, communication/problem-solving, anger management, self-awareness, and sexuality.

My style is warm, authentic and collaborative. I pride myself on being straightforward and honest and want to help people to genuinely connect with themselves and significant others. I truly enjoy my work and have a great deal of respect for my clients’ efforts and progress. I am proud to have worked with people from a variety of cultures, backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and religious/spiritual traditions.

My Philosophy

I believe that people are fundamentally relational beings. I approach every client with respect, with the belief that everyone is doing the best that they can with the knowledge, skills, and experience that they have. Oftentimes people enter therapy because they feel stuck. Perhaps you feel overwhelmed by a recent loss, a past trauma, or the loss of an intimate connection with your partner. Perhaps you feel that you have tried everything that you know how to do, but still cannot “fix” the problems within yourself or in your relationships. Therapy is a special opportunity to create the life, work, and relationships that you most deeply want.

I believe that each person has unique experiences and strengths that can be built upon in therapy to reach your goals. I work collaboratively with you to create the solutions that work for your lifestyle and relationships.
